Ava Chakravarti of Manooghi HiAva trained as a mezzo-soprano in school and later found her powerful blues voice in the 80’s rhythm & blues band “Prudence Dredge”. She continued on singing lead in psychedelic funk band “Mass Hypnosis” and received a nomination for “Best Female Singer” at Seattle’s prestigious ‘Northwest Annual Music Awards’ (NAMA) in 1989.

Throughout her tenured career, Ava has performed in a variety of situations singing rock, blues and jazz standards, and has taken part in theatrical performances including “A New York Lady” (The Writings of Dorothy Parker) & “Night of the Singing Dead”.

Ava Chakravarti of Manooghi HiAfter spending many years in the music retail business, Ava furthered her career in the industry as a production staff member with NW events giant ‘One Reel’ (Bumbershoot Music & Arts Festival, Summer Nights at the Pier) and the legendary variety-arts establishment ‘Teatro ZinZanni’. Working with a host of local and international talent, Ava has developed a strong resume in public relations, artist development and music promotion.

With her family ties in India, the transition into singing in Hindi and other Indian languages with Mehnaz seems to work well for Ava as backup and lead vocalist in Manooghi Hi.
